BMW E46 M3 Race Car Shaker Rig Suspension Testing Video
The Turner Motorsport BMW E46 M3 race cars get a suspension "shake down" -- literally! This computerized setup, commonly known in the business as a "shaker rig" is a sophisticated tool used to simulate suspension dynamics. This testing is part of the preparation of the cars for the 2009 Grand-Am KONI Sports Car race series. Look for these cars, in their full Turner Motorsport race livery in 2009, or visit our website www.TurnerMotorsport.com for more info, including photos, videos, race stats and more.

I have an E46 330i and the only performance item I have is the Signature Motoring performance CAI for about $160. The performance kit adds around 13.5HP on the dyno, sounds freaking great, and installs in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
-13.5 HP increase
-Lifetime filter
-SOUND AWESOME
-30? min. install time
Aside from the power gain, the SOUND is amazing at higher RPM but sounds normal in regular driving. I'm thinking about added high-flow exhaust next.

An ideal suspension ...
An ideal suspension setup will keep the car going perfectly straight and the sprung weight (car body) will not move up or down due to bumps or holes in the road. However, the car has to follow the general contour of the road (up? or down) or it'll bottom out at some point. Without an "active" computer controlled suspension, you have to find the best compromise of body movement and wheel movement.
